Reporting The Reports: Statistics from India’s Internet Hotline (Sept 2016 to Mar 2017)

 

Since the launch the portal has received 426 reports from users across India.

46 of these reports were found to contain Child Sexual Abuse Imagery.

33 Reports contained or linked to content that contained Category A child sexual abuse imagery – the most severe kind that encompasses penetrative sexual assault.

5 Reported links Featured only Male Children.

23 Reported Links Featured only Female Children. 

18 Featured Children of both Sexes.

13 reports featured children between the age of 0 and 2 years.  

11 reports featured children between 3 and 6 years of age,

8 reports featured children between 7 and 10 years while

2 featured a child between 11 and 13 years of age.

In late-March we came across the first incident where the criminal content was hosted in India. It was a Category C image (erotic posing) of a Caucasian girl between 7 – 10 years of age.

USA hosted 22 of the reported links, followed by Russia with 14, France with 3 and Germany with 1.

1 was a link to the dark web.
