About Us: RATI Foundation is a non-profit based out of Mumbai. The foundation’s Aarambh India Initiative works to address the issue of sexual offences against children. It does this through a wide range of strategies which include providing on-ground victim support, network building & strengthening of civil society organizations and government systems, implementing tech solutions, conducting research for evidence-based advocacy, developing accessible resources and training of stakeholders.

– Project Coordinator/Social Worker
Start Date: February 1, 2021
Base Location: Mumbai
Length of Commitment: 12 months

Job Description: The coordinator/social worker will be responsible for managing ongoing casework of child victims of sexual offences & their families and other children at risk. The role will involve offering support to the child and the family through field level case management interventions to ensure comprehensive rehabilitation of the child. In provision of such support, the social worker will be expected to liaison with a range of child protection stakeholders, external organizations, and specialists.

Main Responsibilities:
Casework through visits to various communities and locations in and around Mumbai.
documentation of case history and all visits conducted in the course of the case.
Liaising with multiple stakeholders: Child Welfare Committees, DCPUs, Police, Hospitals, District Legal Services Authority, other NGOs, judiciary, community members etc.
Handling difficult and emotional situations and/or complaints in a professional, polite, calm and empathetic manner.
Understanding and implementing the new law on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences 2012 and other related acts for children and risk.
Weekly and monthly update of cases in specific case management software of the organization (training will be given for the same).
Other duties as assigned, consistent with the above duties as project develops.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
Post graduate degree in Social Work. Relevant diploma or certificate courses in counseling and legal studies would be an added advantage to the applicants.
Minimum 1 to 5 years of on-ground experience in the social work sector. Experience of working with children at risk, grassroots experience and community work will be an added advantage.
Speak English, Marathi and Hindi & possess good writing skills in English.
Be skilled in the use of computers for the purpose of documentation and email-based communication.
Be willing to commit for a duration of at least a year.
Should demonstrate a strong sense of social work principles especially non-judgemental attitude, sensitivity and empathy.

– Counselor

Job Description:The counsellor will be responsible for responding appropriately to calls and emails made by children who are in distress on account of facing online harms. The role will involve offering advice and emotional support to the child. In cases where more comprehensive support is needed, the counselor may also have to liaison with a range of external organizations, stakeholders & specialists. The role, while mostly desk bound, may also entail a fair amount of field work. The candidate will be given intensive training on the varied aspects of working with children. However, they are expected to possess sound knowledge of mental health and various therapeutic interventions that are applicable to this area of work.

Main Responsibilities:
Responding to inbound telephone calls and email
Handling difficult and emotional calls and/or complaints in a professional, polite, calm and empathetic manner
Providing callers with clear, appropriate and effective advice and support
Maintaining records, monthly reports of the calls, emails and chats
Liaising with stakeholders
Traveling to the field work areas and communities
Prioritizing, managing and organizing work, in conjunction with the project team
Other duties as assigned, consistent with the above duties as project develops

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
Post graduate degree in Psychology with specialization in Therapeutic Counselling/ MA in Counselling, Masters in Counselling Psychology/ Masters in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work
Relevant experience of minimum 1-2 years
Speak English and Hindi & possess good writing skills in English
Be skilled in the use of computers for the purpose of documentation and email-based counselling
Be willing to commit for a duration at least a year

The role will involve offering advice and support that will help to resolve the issue as well as reporting offending content to appropriate platforms for removal/blocking. In the provision of such support, they may have to liaison with a range of external organizations, stakeholders and specialists.

Main Responsibilities:
Responding to inbound telephone calls and email
Handling difficult and emotional calls and/or complaints in a professional, polite, calm and empathetic manner
Providing victims with effective support and advice
Maintaining records, monthly reports of the calls, emails and chats
Ability to understand & negotiate mechanisms to report offensive online content
Liaising with stakeholders
Prioritizing, managing and organizing work, in conjunction with the project team
Other duties as assigned, consistent with the above duties as project develops

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
A Post graduate degree (candidates with technical backgrounds will be given additional preference)
Candidate may possess 0 – 5 years of experience
Speak English and Hindi & possess good writing skills in English
Be skilled in the use of computers
A keen understanding of the internet & online harms
Ability to demonstrate methodical approach to dealing with workloads
Passion for exploring and implementing new ways of safeguarding victims from online harms

– Project Manager

Job Description: The Project Manager will be responsible for the implementation of a new project which involves working closely with children and families who are in distress on account of facing online harms.  The manager will be leading a team of social workers, counselors & coordinators. Other than overseeing implementation & functioning of the project, the manager’s role will also involve focus on improving the effectiveness of the interventions and liaison & working with key strategic partners & stakeholders. They will also be expected to contribute to development of campaigns to raise awareness on relevant issues.

Main Responsibilities:
Managing the team of social workers, counsellors & coordinators assigned to the Project.
Taking personal responsibility for key elements of work as well as supporting others in the team.
Taking responsibility for project management and administration & data as it relates to implementation of the project as well as delivering outputs.
Maintaining records, monthly reports of the calls, emails and chats and overseeing project documentation – monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.
Liaising & managing relationships with key stakeholders
Contribute to the Promotion & general awareness of the project
Other duties as assigned, consistent with the above duties as project develops

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
Master’s
2+ years of professional experience in managing projects & teams
Ability to communicate effectively – in writing and in person. Speak English and Hindi & possess good writing skills in English.
