[Work With Us] Aarambh India is Looking For a Counselor

Job Summary:

The Counselor will be responsible for providing mental health support and therapeutic counselling for child victims of sexual offences and families in the city of Mumbai. The position is a part of the project of creating ‘Child Friendly Systems’ in the city of Mumbai, in partnership with UNICEF. The project involves social work and mental health intervention with victims of child sexual abuse, their families and other stakeholders. The counsellors will have to travel to various communities across Mumbai to provide counselling sessions for the clients.

The job profile requires intensive field work, accompanying the social workers for conducting home study of victims and families coordination with multiple stakeholders that includes police, CWCs, NGOs and other community members. The job requires extensive travelling across Mumbai for case management.

The candidate will be given intensive training on the varied aspects of working with children who are victims of sexual abuse. However the candidate is expected to possess sound knowledge of mental health and various therapeutic interventions that are applicable to this area of work. The candidate will report to the Project Manager and the senior leadership team of Prerana.

Qualifications:
Post graduate degree in Psychology with specialization in Therapeutic Counselling
MA in Counselling, Masters in Counselling Psychology
Masters in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work

Candidates with prior work experience will be give preference over fresh graduates

Required Abilities:
Sound Knowledge of Marathi, Hindi & English
Must be able to converse well in all the above languages
Must be able to travel to the field work areas and communities
Must be able to document well and maintain highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality with clients
Passionate about Child Rights & Child Protection
Sensitivity towards victims & families
Must be Self Driven & willing to work as part of a larger team

Remuneration:
