On 7th May 2018, Prerana’s Aarambh India Initiative is releasing the first ever statewide research on the status of Implementation of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) law in Maharashtra.

The process of putting together this study took us across 17 districts of the state in search of opinions, experiences, impressions, challenges & successes of institutions and individuals across the state who are working with child victims of sexual offences and families.

A total of 147 individuals – Police, Child Welfare Committees, Hospitals, Special Public Prosecutors, District Child Protection Units, Juvenile Justice Boards and Community Based Organizations- have spoken, many for the first time.

The resulting document of these unheard yet critical voices shines a light on ground realities and offers on-ground perspectives on the urgent issues of justice, redressal and rehabilitation for child victims of sexual offenses.

The research report put together by Dr. Pravin Patkar & Pooja Kandula will be inaugurated by Shri. Pravin Gughe, Chairperson, State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Maharashtra.
