Reporting The Reports: Statistics from India’s Internet Hotline (Sept to Dec 2016)

India’s 1st Internet Hotline to Report Online Child Sexual Abuse Imagery was launched on the 19th of September 2016.

Since the launch the portal has received 211 reports from users across India.

31 of these reports were found to contain Child Sexual Abuse Imagery.

24 Reports contained or linked to content that contained Category A child sexual abuse imagery – the most severe kind that encompasses penetrative sexual assault.

4 Reported links Featured only Male Children.

14 Reported Links Featured only Female Children. 

13 Featured Children of both Sexes.

11 reports featured children between the age of 0 and 2 years.  

7 reports featured children between 3 and 6 years of age,

12 reports featured children between 7 and 10 years while

1 featured a child between 11 and 13 years of age.

Criminal Content in 12 of the reports were found to be hosted in Russia.

USA was found to host 11,

France was found to host 3

1 was a link to the dark web.
