Launching India’s 1st Internet Hotline to Report Online Child Sexual Abuse Imagery
From 19th September 2016,
A Safer Internet Is a Click Away
“Electronics seem so clean and yet it dirties, dirties tremendously, and it obliges you to leave traces of yourself everywhere… I want to leave nothing, my favorite key is the one that deletes.”
– Elena Ferrante
On 19th September, 2016, Prerana‘s Aarambh India Initiative in partnership with Internet Watch Foundation cordially invites you to the launch of www.aarambhindia.org/report, I
India’s 1st internet hotline will help prevent sexually explicit images/videos of children from being shared and going viral by allowing any citizen to easily report such content. It is a simple, accessible form (available in Hindi & English) that any informed user who stumbles across sexually explicit imagery of a child on the public internet can use to report the content.
The content will be analysed and if it is found illegal, it will be taken down at source. Efforts will be made towards preventing re-uploading of the image/video and support will be provided to law enforcement agencies to help prosecute the offenders.
The hotline aims to eliminate the scourge of online child pornography and further the cause of child protection in online spaces. As we move towards an increasingly digital and connected reality, this is one essential step towards making the internet a more secure space for our children.
Now, with the hotline in place, we can choose to do the right thing. We can choose a safer internet.
Do join us.
